Activate Lane Assist for Audi MLBEvo Cars - Coding Guide

Description of the Audi Active Lane Assist:

Operating at speeds from 65 km/h (40.4 mph), Audi active lane assist helps the driver keep the vehicle in the driving lane. A camera detects lane lines and the track that the car is following between them. In this process, the camera can distinguish between yellow lines in construction zones and standard white markings. If the car approaches a line without the turn signal being activated, the system helps the driver to steer back into the lane by means of gentle but noticeable interventions in the electromechanical power steering. In the MMI system, the driver sets how early the control intervention should occur. In the case of an early steering intervention point, the system guides the driver towards the middle of the lane by gentle, centering steering interventions. With a late steering intervention point, Audi active lane assist does not intervene until shortly before the detected lane marking might be crossed; then it gives a corrective steering intervention in the proper direction. In addition, the driver may choose to be warned by a vibration of the steering wheel when crossing detected lane markings.

This coding guide applies to cars built on the MLBEvo platform. If your car is not in the list below, do not code.

Required:

  • MLBEvo Car (Check out the list above)
  • VCDS, OBDEleven or VCP (We recommend OBDEleven.)
  • Front Sensor (A5) Module
  • Coffee for you to relax after coding (Faults that will appear in the information system may stress you out :)

Activate Audi Active Lane Assist

Tried and tested by me but all risk is yours. We do not accept responsibility. So please be very careful! If you are an OBDEleven user, first of all, take a complete backup of your car.

1- Open the hood. This is the firewall of the car.

2- Select Control Module "A5 - Front Sensor", Enter security access: "20103"

Long Coding:

  • Byte 16 - Bit 7 (HC = Active)
  • Byte 12 - Bit 3 (EFP = Active) and Do It!

Adaptation:

  • BAP Personalization = Set Value to “Not Activated
  • Personalization of lane dept. warning Cl. 15 on = Set value to “Last Setting
  • System mode, lane depart. warn. = Set Value to “Selection via menu
  • Switch-on condition, lane depart. warn. = Set value to “On” (If your car has an original steering column switch: Set value to: Menu)

3- Select Control Module "17 - Instrument"

Long Coding:

  • Byte 4 - Bit 6 (Lane Assistant = Active)
  • Byte 5 - Bit 3 (Lane Change Assistant = Active)

4- Select Control Module "09 - Central Electrics"

Long Coding:

  • Byte 35 - Bit 0 (Heading Control Config - heading_control)

5- Select Control Module "44 - Steering Assistance"

Long Coding:

  • Byte 2 - Bit 7 (Heading Control Assistant = Active) - If this is not available:
  • Byte 2 - Bit 0 (Lane Assistant = Active)

6- Select Control Module "5F - Information Electronics"

Adaptation:

  • Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu_display_Lane_Departure_Warning = Set Value to “Activated
  • Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu_display_Lane_Departure_Warning_over_threshold_high = Set Value to “Activated
  • Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-LDW_HCA_0x19 = Set Value to “Activated
  • Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-LDW_HCA_0x19_msg_bus = Set Value to “Terminal 15

And yes, that was all. Warnings about Lane Assist will remain in the information system, this is normal for now. Now we lock the car and take a 15-minute break if our coffee is ready. After the coffee break, we start the vehicle and check if there is an error. If there is no warning in the information system, Audi Active Lane Assist settings should be in the Audi Pre-Sense menu. Your car has taken its first step towards autonomous driving. Try it on the highway and enjoy Audi Active Lane Assist.

See you
